Bridge of Life School

Building Bridges

Welcome to Our School...

The school was founded by Sok Prin and Edward Roohan in July of 2009.  The two had met through a volunteer trip and Sok had expressed a desire to start an English school to help his community.  After serious discussion and planning $250 in seed money was donated to renovate an old building into a simple classroom.  Over time the program improved and money was raised for additional infrastructure and program development.

Our intent is to provide free, quality English language classes to interested and motivated students.  Through these classes, students will have the chance to acquire the language and take advantage of the large tourism related job market in Siem Reap (such as hotel staff, tour guides, taxi drivers, restaurant servers, bank tellers, sellers and vendors, etc).  Many of these jobs provide a living wage that can be used to support themselves and their families back home

We currently have two schools that serve nearly 200 students.  We offer 10 daily class during the week and employ English teachers.  The classes are free and supplies are provided, but we choose not incentivize to participation with rewards or financial support. The school has since expanded its programs to support community driven initiatives with financial and developmental support.  We have also created some income generating side projects to make make our efforts more sustainable.

Please browse our website to learn more about the school and programs we offer, including a clean water inititaive, sewing program, and chicken farm.  We also have more information about our mission, students, and staff.

Finally, please consider making a donation to Bridge of Life School so that we can continue to help.  We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the state of California and all donations are tax-deductible in accordance with state and federal laws.
